Film After 11 Podcast | Ramblings on Ridley Scott + The Martian (2015)

My last excuse for not doing a new Film After 11 podcast episode was that the family and I all went on vacation and had no time to record one, so we ran a rerun instead. I fully expected to come back prepared to watch a new movie with one of my sons and record ourselves talking about it afterward just like usual. Then I got sick. Really sick. Quarantine me in the basement and nobody come near me while I wallow in a delirious fever for four days sick. That sucked.

Anyway, as I finally started to come around, I obviously wasn’t going to bring my kids down into this hot zone until I’d fully recovered and aired the place out. Hence: another rerun. With Ridley Scott putting a new movie into theaters (however briefly this one may last), I figured I’d pull last year’s episode about The Martian out of the archive.

And then I went and did something crazy. I decided to record an intro, where’d I’d talk about my thoughts on Ridley Scott for a few minutes before segueing into that episode about The Martian. Then those few minutes turned into a lot more minutes as I just kept talking and talking. And talking. The result is that an 11-minute episode expanded to nearly an hour, three-quarters of which involve me babbling solo followed by one-quarter comprising that earlier conversation with Joseph about The Martian.

Maybe this doesn’t appeal to you. Sorry about that. Feel free to jump directly to time-code 40:40 to watch that rerun about The Martian. However, if you’d actually be interested to hear me expound on my deep and enlightening thoughts about Ridley Scott’s career for a brief minute and then lengthily show off a chunk of my home video collection (the majority of that time, I promise), I’d love it if you stuck around. Maybe you’ll even enjoy it.

I can only hope that nothing else sidelines us next week.
